The CAR’s Environmental Recognition Program for Sustainable Companies (RACES), rewards productive facilities that demonstrate environmental responsibility, transcending legal compliance, through the implementation of environmental and productive improvement projects to achieve environmental sustainability. This initiative seeks to reward those companies that recognize the environmental dimension as an opportunity to increase their competitiveness.
The program is designed under a multilevel scheme, in order to recognize the diversity in the performance of the participants. The use of recognition levels is based on the analysis of success factors and good practices, where it is evident that the levels motivate companies to constantly improve in order to climb the recognition pyramid and reach the maximum level.
This year, Ladrillera Santafe was involved in the CAR Environmental Recognition Program for Sustainable Companies, presenting the project for the implementation of state-of-the-art technology systems to improve energy efficiency and control the emissions generated in the ovens of the Arcillas de Soacha 1 and Arcillas de Soacha 2 production plants, with linkage with the cement industry in the disposal of solid waste generated (ashes) in the firing process through a filtration system for particulate material.
In this fourth edition of RACES, 64 companies in the CAR jurisdiction applied. Each company was evaluated by 3 expert juries (CAR, Uniandes and external) and their scores were averaged. Of the 64 applicants, 55 passed the prerequisite and the first filter of evaluation by the evaluation committee. Of these, only the 30 best, by score, passed to the second filter of evaluation that consists of the verification visit made by the team of the Universidad de los Andes, thus achieving that Ladrillera Santafe was ranked among the 7 best companies in the Strategic Company Level, being this the highest level of recognition, for the formulation and implementation of projects of environmental and productive improvement within the organization and along its value chain, showing a continuous environmental improvement; it makes us proud to know that we are doing things better every day and that we are managing to be a Sustainable Company.
